The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-Bombay) released the results for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2022 exam on September 11. Candidates can now check their score cards at the official JEE Advanced website — jeeadv.ac.in.
This year, R K Shishir of IIT Bombay zone is the top ranker in Common Rank List (CRL) in JEE (Advanced) 2022. He obtained 314 marks out of 360 marks. In female candidates, Tanishka Kabra of IIT Delhi zone is the top ranked female with CRL 16. She obtained 277 marks out of 360. A total of 160038 candidates registered and 155538 appeared for both papers, out of which 40712 candidates have qualified.
The exam was conducted on August 28 in two shifts — the morning shift was scheduled between 9 am and 12 pm, and the afternoon shift started at 2:30 pm and concluded at 5:30 pm. Candidates were then given access to the copy of their responses at 10 am of September 01, which was available for download at the official JEE Advanced website — jeeadv.ac.in. After that, the provisional answer keys were released on September 03 and candidates had time till 5 pm of September 04 to raise objections.
Now, the online registration for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2022 is open from 10 am of September 11 till 5 pm of September 12, and the tentative start of Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) 2022 process is September 12. NIT Rourkela who is co-hosting JoSAA 2022 has announced that it removed the eligibility requirement of 75 per cent marks or 20 percentiles in class 12 exams conducted by the respective boards. How to register for JoSAA counselling–
Step 1: Go to JoSAA official website -josaa.nic.in
Step 2: Click on the registration link and sign-in.
Step 3: Enter relevant details like roll number, name, parent's name, date of birth and create a password on the candidate login page.
Step 4: A confirmation mail will be sent to the registered ID of the candidate along with login credentials.
Step 5: After the candidates have their application number and password they will have to complete the application form by entering their personal details, qualification, contact etc.
Step 6: Candidates then have to upload the required documents and complete the form.
Step 7: And lastly, preview and submit the application form.

The minimum aggregate marks for General category was 55, while for OBC-NCL and EWS category was 50. The minimum aggregate for rest of the categories was 28 and in preparatory course ranks list was 14
IIT Bombay and IIT Madras have the same number of candidates in top 100, and IIT-Delhi leads in top 500 category 133. IIT-Guwahati had 10 candidates in top 500. IIT Kanpur also saw a lower number with only one candidate in top 100 and 23 in top 500.

The number of candidates registering for the JEE Advanced after clearing the JEE-Main saw a gradual drop from 83.1 per cent in 2014 to 58.1 per cent in 2021, the data of the two-tier engineering entrance test show. The percentage has gone up slightly this year as about 1.6 lakh of the 2.6 lakh qualified candidates — 61.5 per cent — had registered to write the JEE-Advanced on August 28.
The number as well percentage of students was lowest (for the period being discussed) in 2021 when only 1.5 lakh of the 2.6 lakh eligible candidates — 58.1 per cent — registered to take the final examination, which would determine admissions to 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country. At 64.1 per cent, the previous year (2020) had 1.60 lakh students registering out of the 2.5 lakh who had passed the JEE-Main.

The race to bag a seat at the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is expected to get tougher this year, say experts according to the JEE Advanced exam held this year.

The number of women cracking JEE-Advanced has steadily risen from 2014 to 2021, an analysis of exam statistics by The Indian Express has shown.
The latest National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) report released by the Education Ministry last month shows that 69% of enrolment in engineering colleges are of men. Women make up 31% of the student strength across all engineering schools that applied for ranking under NIRF. The IITs are no exception to this trend. The scores released by the NTA in percentile show that for general category candidates, the cut off for JEE (Advanced)-2022 is 88.4, which was 87.9 in 2021. In this category, the qualifying scores were 90.3 and 89.7 in 2020 and 2019, respectively.
However, in the case of reserved category candidates, the qualifying scores have dipped substantially over the years. For SC candidates, 43.08 is the cut off this time, as against 46.8 in 2021, 50.1 in 2020, and 54.01 in 2019. The JEE Advanced was conducted on August 28 in two shifts; the duration for each paper was three hours. Paper I was conducted from 9 am till 12 pm and paper II was conducted from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
IIT Bombay released the answer keys for JEE Advanced 2022 on September 3 and candidates were given time till 5 pm of September 4 to raise challenges against any answer given in the key.
Along with the provisional answer keys, IIT Bombay had also released question papers for both Paper I and Paper II.

In his most-recent tweet on Saturday, the former IIT Delhi director also suggested solutions to temper the obsession with Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and IT and promote other engineering branches. "Looking at a large number of responses to my earlier post, the general conclusion is that the students are choosing the CSE and allied disciplines because of career opportunities in these areas. Of course, that is the reason, but it can’t be a solution. The solution lies in the creation of time-bound mission mode programmes, careful planning and execution from the top," he said. Former IIT Delhi director V Ramgopal Rao recently took to social media to question the long-standing trend of students preferring Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and IT over other engineering branches. Rao believes that the situation is the same in almost every college in the country.
“Colleges are hardly able to fill even one-third of the available seats in branches other than Computer Science and IT. No one wants to do even Electronics. The situation is worse in Civil, Mechanical etc. Many colleges don’t know what to do with a large number of faculty working in these departments,” he said in a tweet. Read his views here
