JEE Mains 2025 Session 2 Registration Updates: JEE Main April application begins at jeemain.nta.nic.in

Getting into IIT wasn’t easy. I first appeared for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) in 2023 and secured an AIR of 2451. It was not enough to get me a seat. But I did not lose hope. I prepared rigorously, using online resources, and appeared again in 2024. This time, I achieved an AIR of 336, finally securing my spot at IIT Hyderabad.

I come from a humble background. My father, now an assistant administrative officer at the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), worked as a normal worker in the Corporation for 17 years, earning just Rs 6,000 a month. Back then, life was challenging. There were days when I could not enjoy the simple joys of visiting the market or eating outside food. My father struggled to pay my tuition fees, but he never let me give up on my studies. But now, when I look back, I feel proud to have faced those struggles that made me who I am today.

Apart from the IITs, other Indian universities such as Delhi University (DU) and Anna University have made significant contributions to India’s representation in the QS Rankings. DU registered the highest jump this year, moving from the 521-530 range in 2023 to rank 328 in 2025, which showcases its rising global influence and academic strength. 

Anna University, which was earlier placed in the 801-1000 range, has rapidly advanced to rank 383 in 2025, underlining the institution’s growing focus on quality research and education. These improvements highlight the broader efforts of Indian universities to achieve global standards and attract international attention

For new candidates Session 2 of JEE (Main) 2025:

i Candidates can apply for JEE (Main) - 2025 Session 2 Online only through the website jeemain.nta.nic.in/. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.

ii Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. Under no circumstances, candidates will be allowed to fill more than one Application Form. Strict action will be taken, even at a later stage, against such candidates who have filled more than one Application Form.

iii Candidates must strictly follow the instructions given in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be summarily disqualified.

iv Candidates must ensure that the e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own or their Parents’/Guardians’ only as all information/communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on the registered Mobile Number only.

In an indication of the changing hiring trends from the Indian Institutes of Technology, at least four older IITs have seen a decline in their campus placement percentages in recent years, even as surveys indicate the number of students getting jobs independently may be on the rise.

The trends, based on data obtained by The Indian Express, come against the backdrop of a shifting tech landscape, global economic uncertainties, and an increasing number of IIT graduates competing in a dynamic job market.

Five of the seven first-generation IITs responded to The Indian Express’s request under the RTI Act for placement data spanning six years, from 2018-19 to 2023-24. IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati did not share details and instead referred to their annual reports.

Among the institutes that disclosed placement rates (the percentage of students receiving job offers) across undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Roorkee recorded declines ranging from 5 to 16 percentage points (see chart).

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced the launch of a new programme on e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-mobility. The new programme will be of 18-months duration and will be starting in March 2025.

The ePG diploma programme is designed and delivered by IIT Bombay faculty with Great Learning as the EdTech partner. Upon successful completion, a graduation ceremony in the IIT Bombay campus will be held and participants will be conferred alumni status.

The spark to take the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) ignited during my school days, particularly when I began to grasp my interest in mathematics and science. I always enjoyed solving challenging problems, and JEE seemed like the ultimate platform to test my limits. Watching my father work on power electronics as a consultant and hearing him explain the intricacies of his field further piqued my curiosity about engineering. I wanted to follow in his footsteps, creating innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Being a physically challenged student, I knew the path wouldn’t be easy. Navigating school itself had its share of difficulties. While my school, New India School, had some basic accessibility features like a lift, they weren’t always fully functional or reliable. During my time at Suryadatta Public School, my mother often had to step in to ensure the lift worked so I could attend classes. This experience made me realise how crucial accessibility is and why institutions need to be more inclusive.
