This year, it is expected that general candidates cut off can range between 91-95, while for OBC NCL , it is predicted by the coaching institutes to be between 77-83. While for SC, it is 58-65, and ST 44-50.

My first year had been entirely online, so this was also my first experience living away from home. Fortunately, Kharagpur is just a four-hour train ride from Purulia, which made the transition easier, and I never really felt lonely. The first few days were overwhelming, especially adjusting to roommates who were complete strangers at first. Over time, we bonded, staying up late, and eventually became close friends.

Food was not much of an issue for me either. I have always adapted well to new environments, thanks to my parents’ lessons on resilience. The social and cultural life here is something else. I joined multiple societies in my first year to explore different interests. Eventually, I stuck with the Communiqué, the soft skills and personality development society, where I was honoured to be appointed as the governor. I also joined the Bengali Dramatics Society, Druheen, and the Technology Filmmaking and Photography Society (TFPS), where I found a platform to explore my creative side and meet amazing seniors and juniors.

Balancing studies and extra-curricular activities is not always easy. It takes discipline, especially with so many activities constantly happening on campus. I prioritise my personal assignments and classes, but these societies give me a space to relax, learn, and grow. It is all about managing time well. While some students spend hours on social media, I have always believed in investing my time where it will count.

The Radhakrishnan Hall of Residence or ‘RK Hall’, as we call it, is where I live. Being the Social Cultural Secretary in my second year gave me incredible experiences. I was a part of our Nukkad team, competing in the General Championship, where we won second place among all halls. The memories of practising for hours, performing with friends, and the rallying cry of ‘RK ka tempo high hai’ still echo in my mind.

IIT Delhi also conducted an exit survey among the graduated students which revealed that only 5 per cent graduated students (from last year) were still looking for appropriate career opportunities. A large fraction of these students comprises of PhD scholars looking for Post-Doctoral Research opportunities abroad.

Students availing on-campus placement in 2023-2024 had increased by about 25 per cent from 2022-23, which includes a six-fold increase in number of PhD scholars. The total number of graduates in 2023-24 is higher than the previous year by close to 10 per cent, and the number of PhD graduates by 30 per cent.

For the first time, IIT Delhi conducted a special placement drive for PhD Scholars in June 2024, which helped to increase the number of offers by seven times compared to the previous year. Notwithstanding the success of the initial attempt at PhD placement, a large majority of these graduates are placed through off-campus placement which is to be expected as they are recruited to occupy niche roles.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) is one of the premier institutes in the country that has remained under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) released by the Education Ministry. In 2024, the Delhi-based institute ranked second with a score of 86.66. Not only under the engineering category, the institute also ranked fourth in the management category.

In the IIT BHU 2024-25 placement, the highest cost to company (CTC) achieved is Rs 2.20 crore per annum. The average package stands at Rs 22.80 lakh.

The placements have been conducted in diverse range of industries including technology, consulting, finance, and core engineering sectors. Major recruiters in the recent session include Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Tata Steel, Amazon, Data brics, ITC, Amazon, Samsung, Oracle, Walmart and Qualcomm, among others.

The first phase of the IIT BHU placement drive began on November 30 and continued till December 12, 2024. The CTC range received in the first phase ranged between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1.65 crore.

IIT Bombay’s campus is a world of its own. There’s always something happening—be it music jamming sessions with friends in the evenings or orientations by various clubs and tech teams. Most of my evenings were spent attending these orientations, getting to know the vast opportunities available. I must say the food here at the mess is something I have come to love. Contrary to the usual belief that mess food is not tasty, I have found the meals here to be quite good, especially considering the long hours of work.

The professors at IIT Bombay are incredibly supportive, always encouraging us to not only focus on academics but also to explore extracurricular activities. One memorable experience for me was in my first semester’s mathematics course. My professor would demonstrate mathematical concepts using examples from ancient Sanskrit texts and even old Bollywood songs, which made the class not only informative but also fun and engaging
