NEET UG 2024: Inspired by his doctor parents, Rishit Agarwal decided to prepare for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG. He wishes to pursue medicine and plans to study master’s from abroad. The 19-year-old secured an All India Rank 27 in the NEET UG 2022.
He speaks to indianexpress.com on how he prepared for the NEET UG.
I religiously followed the NCERT, studied the subjects thoroughly and solved a lot of mock tests.
I never counted my hours instead focussed on productivity or rather what I have studied. I would set small goals and work hard to achieve them. I also made sure to get proper sleep. I would sleep at 12 am and wake up at 7:30 am. I used to have classes from 2 pm to 8 pm and did self-study in the remaining time.
There is pressure for sure but not because the exam is difficult but because the competition is too high.
I referred to HC Verma for Physics as well coaching modules. MS Chauhan, Narendra Awasthi and coaching tutors notes for Chemistry. Cengage by Hariom Gangwar and coaching modules for Biology. I studied from these books in addition to NCERT.
I used to listen to music or talk with my family and friends whenever I felt overwhelmed or got tired of studying.
NCERT is a must, study it thoroughly and solve a lot of mock tests. Revise all topics, especially the volatile ones as many times as possible. And, do your best and not focus on other things or get scared because of the competition.
