NEET UG Toppers’ Tips: ‘Use basic concepts to solve difficult questions’

Akshat Singh cracked NEET UG last year. He suggests NEET aspirants to follow NCERT religiously and talk with teachers and parents whenever they feel a little demotivated or stressed.

'Use basic concepts to solve difficult questions,' says NEET UG 2024 ranker Akshat SinghAfter scoring near-perfect marks, he was sure to become a doctor with his grit and determination, he made his parents proud and fulfilled his dream.

Haridwar-based Akshat Singh cracked NEET UG 2024 in his first attempt. Aiming to serve the country and contribute to building a healthy society, Singh ditched open schools and continued his higher secondary education with DPS Haridwar. Singh scored 98 per cent in Class 12 board exams.

After scoring near-perfect marks, he was sure to become a doctor with his grit and determination.

In the NEET UG 2024, he scored 697 marks and is now pursuing an MBBS from AIIMS Raebareli. Being a day scholar and preparing for NEET UG, was indeed a difficult task for Akshat. “After talking to my parents and teachers and getting clarity of what I was doing, I used to again become determined to fulfil my dream of becoming a doctor and wearing the white coat,” he said.

For him, the key to solving difficult questions in the exam is to clear basic concepts of the topic ‘sequentially’ rather than jumping from one topic to another to complete and revise the subject quickly. “I believe in this because even the problems are based on some simple facts which when understood can be solved within moments,” said Akshat Singh.

Revision is the most important part of the preparation and Akshat ensured to study the topics while preparing for his coaching tests at Allen Institute. For the test preparation, he used to revise all the previous topics.

The reason he used to do this was because he believes that every topic in the book be it NCERT or coaching materials is connected and acts as a ‘building block’ for other topics. This way he used to revise all the topics easily several times even without any strict revision plan.

He recommended students to stay focused on what they want to achieve. “Follow NCERT religiously, talk with your teachers and parents whenever you feel a little demotivated or stressed. Follow their guidance well because the only way to crack NEET is by staying relaxed and consistent with your efforts,” he added.
