The National Institute of Technology, Goa (NIT Goa) has maintained its position within the top 100 engineering colleges in India over the past year according to the NIRF 2023 rankings. The Institute secured the 90 spot in the Engineering category for the year 2023, reflecting a lower performance over the past few years.
However, NIT Goa’s overall ranking has shown some fluctuation. The institute achieved 85th position in 2021 but dipped to 90th in 2023.
The institution could not secure a spot in the global ranking of QS World University Rankings or Times Higher Education (THE) rankings over the past years.

The Goa-based NIT ranks 90th in the engineering category of NIRF 2023 rankings by scoring 63.94 in teaching, learning and resources (TRL) out of 100, 23.93 in research and professional practice (RPC) out of 100, 56.68 in graduation outcomes (GO), 42.01 in outreach and inclusivity (OI) and 11.40 in perception out of 100.
Although its ranking has seen a steady decline, its NIRF engineering ranking score has seen improvement from 40.60 in 2021 to 43.28 this year.
Established in 2010, the institution is declared an “Institute of National Importance” and is an autonomous institute under the aegis of Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
The institution currently offer undergraduate programmes in computer science and engineering (CSE), electronics and communication engineering (ECE), and electrical and electronics engineering (EEE), civil engineering and mechanical engineering.
For student interested in master’s, it offer programmes in M.Tech Courses in CSE, VLSI, Power Electronics, and Power Systems since 2014.
