The National Institute of Technology Manipur (NIT Manipur) failed to feature in the top 100 at the Engineering category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) this year. In 2024, the NIT has been ranked in the 101-150th rank band. Last year, it was ranked among the top 100 institutions in the engineering category for the first time between 2019 and 2023. The institute was placed at the 148th rank in 2019, then the NIRF ranking under the engineering category dropped to 158 in 2020. However, in the NIRF engineering category ranking in 2021 and 2022, the institute was ranked at 114 and 108 respectively. In the 2023 NIRF Engineering category ranking, the institute obtained a double digit rank - 95. The institution in its NIRF Engineering category for 2023 secured 63.06 in teaching, learning, and resources, 20.62 in research and professional practice, 53.37 in graduation outcomes (GO), 61.24 in outreach and inclusivity, and 3.79 in perception, all out of 100. Students seeking admission in undergraduate courses must appear for JEE MAIN, while for NRI, PIO and foreign nation students at NIT Manipur even accept direct admission of students abroad (DASA) scores. Additionally, students must also note that 50 per cent of the seats in all courses offered by the institution are reserved for candidates belonging from Manipur and the remaining 50 per cent are open to all the other different states of India as per the official website. The undergraduate courses offered by the intuition are – computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering.
