JEE Main Result (OUT) 2024 Updates: Meet toppers and know why few plans to appear for April session

For some JEE Main toppers, securing full marks is a matter of achievement, a few others want to take JEE Main to keep themselves ready for the upcoming entrance tests and overcome exam stress. A majority of the toppers also want to improve their scores, as the best of the two attempts will be considered while preparing the JEE Main final merit list.

A total of 23 male students across India have scored a perfect 100 percentile in the first session of JEE Main results announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday, with the highest from Telangana.

The 100 percentile score holder will also appear for the JEE Main April session exam again before taking the JEE Advanced exam in May.

Aryan Prakash is going to appear for the second session of JEE Main but in studies, he has already shifted his focus to preparation for JEE Advanced. But even after putting his 100 per cent in preparation, Aryan has kept his plans B ready. “If I do not get into an IIT in a branch of my choice, I will join the Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Chennai,” he said.

Haryana topper Shivansh Nair thinks that it is the effort of his teachers and his hard and consistent work has helped him achieve his feat.

Ishaan Gupta, a 17-year-old from Haryana’s Gurugram, shifted to Kota to prepare better for the JEE exams. His mother also accompanied him after quitting her corporate job in Gurugram. 

If your first attempt in JEE Main did not go right, appear for JEE Main April session exam. The registration for JEE Main 2024 is underway at jeemain.nta.ac.in.

The examination centres were also monitored using AI-based video analytics and virtual observers, NTA said.

NTA score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained, the testing agency said while announcing the JEE Main 2024 result for January session.

Percentile scores in JEE Main result are the scores based on the relative performance of all those who appear for the examination. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees.

The percentile score is the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination. Therefore, the topper (highest score) of each session will get the same percentile of 100. The marks scored between the highest and lowest scores are also converted to appropriate percentiles.

To access and download the JEE Main 2024 session 1 result, candidates will have to key in their registration number and date of birth.

NTA has dismissed the allegations made by students who said there are differences in the marks obtained and percentile scores. NTA has claimed that the candidates have scored as per their performances, and there are no errors in the percentile calculation.

Students are claiming that there is a difference in their JEE Main marks and percentile predictions. A student from Delhi, who took the the JEE Main 2024 session 1 exam on January 27 claims that he obtained 238/300 but was awarded 99.088 percentile.

“My friends appearing on other exam dates who have a similar score as I have got a higher percentile. Is it my fault that I was assigned the morning shift on January 27? We didn’t choose these shifts. There is a difference of nearly 80 marks, which is not a small thing in JEE. Sadly, NTA is not paying attention to this,” he said.

As per data shared by NTA, Telangana has the highest number of 100 percentile holders with seven followed by Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan with three each. Delhi and Haryana have two 100 percentile holders. One each from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka have also scored 100 percentile marks.

The NTA has not yet announced the paper 2 result. The scores for paper 2A (BArch) and 2B (BPlanning) for the JEE Main 2024 session 1 will be issued in the next few days, NTA said.

This time, Telenagana has the highest number of 100 percentilers (7), followed by Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan which have three 100 percentilers. Delhi and Haryana have 2 100 percentilers, and one each from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka.

After both sessions of the JEE Main 2024 examination for Paper 1, the ranks of the candidates will be released taking into consideration the best of the two NTA scores in accordance with the policy already made. 

This year, 23 male candidates have scred 100 percentile, but there is no female candidate who has got the perfect score. Among state toppers, only Dwija Dharmeshkumar Patel from Gujarat got the top spot with an NTA score of 99.99

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024 result. To check the JEE Main 2024 session 1 results, candidates can have to visit the official website – jeemain.nta.ac.in. 

Once the NTA declares the JEE Main 2024 result, candidates will be able to check the results at the JEE Main 2024 official websites -- jeemain.nta.ac.in and nta.ac.in.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) which had earlier announced that the result will be declared on February 12, has not yet announced the JEE Main result for session 1.

According to the latest All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) report, the enrollments in Computer Engineering has gone up in the last year. Other than that, other sub-streams such as ME, Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering saw a dip of 15.45  per cent, 0.81 per cent and 3.31 per cent, respectively.

NTA has started registration for National Council for Hotel Management Joint Entrance Examination (NCHM JEE 2024). NCHM JEE 2024 application form is available at exams.nta.ac.in/NCHM. The last date to apply for NCHM JEE 2024 is March 31 and exam date is May 11.

The JEE Main result will be made live at the new website -- jeemain.nta.ac.in. Earlier the JEE Main website was jeemain-nta-nic-in.

In addition to the 544 exam centres in 291 cities, the JEE Main January session exam was also conducted in 21 cities outside India.

According to NTA data, 95.8 per cent of the registered JEE Main January 2024 candidates appeared paper 1 (BE / BTech). This, as per NTA, is one of the highest percentages of attendance for JEE Main since the testing agency has started conducting JEE Main exams.

Of the 12,21,615 candidates registering for JEE Main paper 1, 11,70,036 candidates appeared. The JEE Main BArch paper was taken by 55,493 candidates out of the total 74,002 registered candidates.

Over 12 lakh candidates await JEE Main 2024 results. The result website -- jeemain.nta.ac.in will make the scorecards of the individual candidates available.

IIT Madras will allow admissions through sports quota in its undergraduate courses. Although the admission process will require a student to qualify JEE Advanced 2024, but they will not be required to register for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal.

To check and access the JEE Main 2024 results, candidates will have to use their roll numbers or registration numbers and date of birth.

The jeemain.nta.ac.in and nta.ac.in websites will host the JEE Main 2024 result.

Although the NTA had released the provisional JEE Main BArch and BPlanning answer keys on February 6, it has not yet released the final answer keys of JEE Main paper 2.

The top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2024 will become eligible to register for JEE Advanced 2024 exam. The application for JEE Advanced will begin on April 21 at jeeadv.ac.in.

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) alumni and CSR partners have come together to provide financial aid to 100 per cent of BTech students whose annual parental income is in the ‘Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh’ category for two consecutive years (2022-23 and 2023-24). The JEE Main 2024 session 1 result will be announced anytime soon. The jeemain.nta.ac.in website will make the JEE Main 2024 result available.

JEE Main 2024 BTech and JEE Main 2024 BArch scores will also be used for admission to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University
(AKTU), Lucknow and Madan Mohan Malviya University (MMMUT), Gorakhpur.

The candidates who have applied and successfully paid the JEE Main 2024 exam fee for the session 1 exam and want to appear for the next session will have to log in with their previous application number and password as provided in session 1 exam. They may only choose the paper, medium of examination, state code of eligibility, exam centre cities, educational qualification details and pay application fee. 

NTA has revised the JEE Main 2024 session 2 dates. The JEE Main April 2024 exam earlier scheduled to be held from April 1 to 15, will now be held between April 4 to 15. The JEE Main 2024 application has started and will remain open until March 2, 2024. Candidates can register at jeemain.nta.ac.in.

All these unhealthy competitions put enormous stress on the students, which gradually develops mental health issues among many of them, the best young minds of our country. As a senior faculty member at IIT Mandi and regular interaction with the students, I found that this mental health issue has grown exponentially among IIT students in recent years.

So, all IITs are trying to handle this issue very seriously by developing strong counselling cells and mental health units, yoga and meditation centres, etc along with forming different internal committees for continuous monitoring of the students.

At IIT Mandi, we have a strong hiking and trekking club and mountain biking club. As a former faculty-in-charge of these clubs, I conducted frequent hiking and trekking events for the students, especially for the first-year students, and I found that these activities brought wonderful positive energy among the students which helped them to overcome mental stress. Also, the location and weather at IIT Mandi play an important role in bringing lots of positive energies and peace of mind among the students. This may be the reason that we have not seen any serious mental health issues among our students.
