PSEB 10th Result 2023 (OUT) Updates: Score card link released

Government schools secured a pass percentage of 97.54 per cent while the pass percentage for private schools is 97 per cent.

All the districts in the state have secured a pass percentage 95 per cent or above, with Pathankot district securing the highest pass percentage at 99.19 per cent and Barnala securing the lowest pass percentage with 95.96 per cent.

All the three toppers-- Gagandeep Kaur, Navjot and Harmandeep Kaur are from the government schools.

This time, Pathankot district has the highest 99.19 per cent pass percentage, while Barnala has the lowest 95.96 per cent.

Gagandeep Kaur of Sant Mohan Das Memorial Sr Secondary School, Faridkot tops the state in Class 10 with 100 per cent marks (650 out of 650 marks). The second spot was bagged by Navjot Kaur securing 648 out of 650 marks (99.69 per cent). Harmandeep Kaur secured 646 marks out of 650 (99.38 per cent) bagging the third position.

PSEB Class 10 score cards will be released tomorrow at 8 am

The pass percentage this year is around 2 per cent less than the previous year. As many as 653 students fail to clear the examination and 6,171 have re-appear.

This year, a total of 2,81,327 students appeared in the examination. The number of appeared students has been declining in the past few years. The PSEB Vice Chairman Varinder Bhatia while speaking to the The Indian Express said that declining number of students is matter to look into.

This year, all the three toppers are from government schools. The first rank has been achieved by Gagandeep Kaur who scored 650/650 (100%), followed by Navjot who scored 648/650 (99.69%) and Harmandeep Kaur who scored 646/650 (99.38%)

The top 6 subjects in Class 10 results are:

Punjabi - 99.19%

English - 99.22%

Hindi - 99.62%

Mathematics - 99.74%

Science - 99.24%

Social Science- 99.37%

All the districts in the state have recorded pass percentage of 95 per cent or above, with Barnala scoring the lowest at 95.96 per cent.

The Class 10 pass percentage was 85.56 per cent in 2019, which means the students have performed better than the pre-pandemic years, says PSEB vice chairman Varinder Bhatia.

A total of three transgender students appeared in the examination and all passed.

"Failure is always an opportunity to begin again," says the PSEB official.

Government schools recorded a pass percentage of 97.54 per cent, while that of private schools is 97 per cent. Rural areas have recorded 97.94 per cent, which is around one per cent higher than that of urban areas (96.77 per cent)

English subject has a 99.22 per cent which is slightly higher than the pass percentage in Punjabi subject 99.1 per cent

The press conference for PSEB Class 10 result declaration will begin soon. The press conference was scheduled to begin at 11:30 am, but hasn't started yet due to unknown reasons.

While it is not clear whether or not the result will be available via SMS this time, last year, students could also check their results via SMS. For that, students had to type PB10 <roll number> and send to 56767650.

While the result will be announced by the Chairman, Punjab School Education Board through a virtual meeting today, score cards will be made available on the official websites - pseb.ac.in on May 27

In 2022, PSEB conducted the class 10 board exams in two terms with each covering 50 per cent of the syllabus. The results for the class 10 board exams were declared according to the average of both terms. Toppers name, merit list will be announced accordingly.

Students are advised to save the page and take a printout of the class 10 results for future reference. Candidates are also advised to ensure that all details are factually correct and there are no spelling errors. For students who are unable to find their roll number and registration number can check the same on their admit card or hall ticket.

The PSEB result will be announced today and the scorecard that will be available tomorrow onwards will act as a provisional marksheet. Original marksheet will be issued by the board later which the students can collect their respective schools.

Students will be required to enter their login details at the official website. The login details may include details such as registration number and date of birth.

The Punjab board cancelled the Class 10 board exams in 2020 and 2021 due to surge in Covid cases. Hence, the results were announced based on alternative assessment in both years and no merit list and toppers list was released.

Students need to score at least 20 per cent marks in both practical exams and theory to pass the Class 10 board examination. This year, the academic calendar was divided into two parts, along with the syllabus. So, the overall score will be calculated on the basis of the average of the two terms. 

Last year, a total of 1,41,528 girls had appeared in the exam out of which 1,40,594 managed to pass with an overall passing percentage of 99.34 per cent. Whereas, as many as 1,70,005 boys appeared out of which 1,68,022 boys passed securing a passing percentage of 98.83 per cent.

While the PSEB Class 10 results will be declared today at 11:30 am via a press conference, students will be able to check results tomorrow i.e. on May 26.

In 2022, 11 out of 12 transgender students had passed the matric exams. 

Last year, the rank 1 holder was rewarded Rs 1 lakh while the rank 2 and 3 were also rewarded cash awards.

The deadline for admission of regular students of classes 8 to 12, which was earlier May 15, has now been extended till July 31, 2023, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) said in an official notice today.

In 2022, district Gurdaspur had the highest pass percentage at 99.52 while Ferozepur had the lowest 98.65 percent pass percentage.

No, only one girl had topped the exam last year. However, a farmer’s daughter from Natt village in Sangrur district, 16-year-old Dilpreet Kaur came a close second by scoring 99.08% marks. Rabbi Singh, Dilpreet’s father who considers her as the state topper, said, “Age karke second kita hai, par number taan 99.08% aaye ne.. bhot mehnat kiti hai bachi ne (she too is the topper, because of her age she has been placed at number 2. Our girl worked very hard.”

In 2022, 15-year-old Nancy Rani from Satiye Wala village in Ferozepur secured the top rank. The first and second rank holders had secured the same marks, however, since Nancy was younger she had been given the top rank as per the tie-breaker formula.

Daughter of a carpenter, Nancy scored 644 marks out of 650 (99.08%). “Self study and following a time table helped me a lot. I want to be an engineer and now I will take admission in the government school, which is about 10 km from my village,” she said, adding that she never took any tutions. Read her complete story here

In 2022, the results of 317 students were withheld by the Board and 2,475 students had to re-appear for the exam.

This year, the exams were held in the morning session from 10 am to 1:15 pm between March 24 and April 20. Exams such as physical education and sports, NSFQ subjects and computer science were of two hours and rest all the others were of three hours.
