Anna University gets top rank in India in THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) attained the number one spot and Stanford University is in second place.

Times Higher Education (THE) on November 22 released the new Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR) 2025 in which India has emerged as the most represented country in the table with 65 universities ranked. However, India has failed to secure a rank in the top 10.

The top ranked institute in India is the Anna University, which ranked at 42nd spot, followed by VIT University at 65th spot, SRM Institute of Science and Technology at 84th, KIIT University at the 92nd spot and Delhi University at the 98th spot.

DU is followed by the Lovely Professional University at 99th spot, Amity University (Noida) at 101, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences at 102, Jamia Millia Islamia at 103, Jawaharlal Nehru University at 105. Other universities that scored a rank included Sharda University, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Panjab University, Chitkara University, Bharathiar University, Amity University (Gurugram and Mumbai), Alagappa University, DIT University and many more.

Singapore is the only Asian nation to feature in the top 10. Hong Kong and China also claimed high ranks in the top 20. Hong Kong’s best ranked institution is University of Hong Kong in 13th place and China’s leading institution is Fudan University at 16. Asia is the most represented continent in the top 100 with 47 universities from 15 countries, while 103 Asian institutions feature in the top 200. Asia’s most represented countries in the top 100 are India and Saudi Arabia, with six universities each, followed by Hong Kong and Japan, with five each.

Meanwhile, the United States of America (USA) dominated the top ranks. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) attained the number one spot and Stanford University is in second place, while in total the US occupies seven of the top 10 positions.

Singapore’s National University of Singapore ranked at the third place and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore ranked ninth. Meanwhile, Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands ranked number seven, making it the highest ranked institution in Europe.

California Institute of Technology, Duke University and University of Minnesota are in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively, while University of California, Santa Barbara is in eighth place and University of Michigan-Ann Arbor takes the tenth spot.
