The University of Toronto has three campuses, each offering a unique experience. The St George campus (UTSG), located in downtown Toronto, is the largest of the three.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) offers both a major and an honours degree in the subject, with combined honours options like Physics and Astronomy, Chemical Physics, and Physics and Mathematics.

The programme’s flexibility allows students to pair their physics studies with other disciplines such as computer science, applied mathematics, physical geography, or even professional degrees like architecture, commerce, law, and medicine.

Core courses include subjects such as differential calculus, matrix algebra (MATH 221), and optics (PHYS 408). UBC also provides the option to complete a double major, ensuring a well-rounded foundation for a variety of career paths.

International applicants to the University of Toronto are assessed based on high school courses, grades, and personal essays. Applicants must meet specific course prerequisites and demonstrate English proficiency.

For the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, English at either HL or SL is required, along with Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches SL or HL, or Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations HL for science programmes. Indian students applying with the CBSE or ICSE must have completed Mathematics at the Class 12 level.

University of British Columbia

Admissions to UBC’s physics programme are highly competitive, requiring strong academic performance and relevant extracurriculars. International students from India should aim for a 90 per cent average in Class 12, with coursework in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

For International Baccalaureate (IB) students, key subjects include Mathematics (Analysis and Approaches SL/HL) and one of IB Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Additionally, all applicants must demonstrate English proficiency before admission.
