The Tamil Nadu Open University would get UGC funds with 12-B special status (eligibility criteria) given to it after the UGC team inspected the institution and graded its infrastructure and governance. According to an official document, the infrastructure of the university had been upgraded and new streams of courses had been introduced. Besides the administrative set up of the University had been streamlined. The UGC team which visited the university expressed satisfaction over the standard of the university. This would enable the university receive UGC funds and also funds for research programmes and related studies. The University would introduce more courses in the coming months, the officials said.
