UPSC CSE Prelims Result 2025 (Out) Updates: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on June 11 declared the results for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 preliminary exam. Candidates who took the UPSC CSE 2025 prelims exam on May 25 will be able to download and check and download their result status from upsc.gov.in and upsconline.gov.in.
UPSC Civil Services Prelims Result 2025 Declared: How many candidates qualify?
Last year, UPSC held the CSE prelims exam June 16 and the UPSC CSE prelims result status was announced on July 1. While, in 2023, the UPSC CSE preliminary exam was conducted on May 28 and the result was released June 12.
UPSC CSE Prelims cut-off trends from last year
UPSC CSE prelims 2025 exam was conducted for paper 1 and paper 2. The UPSC CSE prelims paper 1 was held for general studies and the paper 2 exam was held for the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). As per aspirants who appeared for the exam this year, the UPSC Prelims 2025 exam was an overall lengthy paper.
Candidates scoring above the cut-off marks in CSE prelims will become eligible to register for the UPSC main examination. The mains will be descriptive and will be conducted from August 22 for five days.
A Facilitation Counter near the UPSC examination hall building in its premises at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi has been set up. The UPSC CSE prelims results of four candidates have been kept withheld. Their results will be declared till final outcome of the ongoing court cases are out, UPSC while announcing the CSE prelims 2025 result said.

Candidates qualifying CSE prelims and Indian Forest Service prelims exam will become eligible to register for the UPSC main examination. The UPSC CSE mains will be descriptive and will be conducted from August 22 for five days.
UPSC CSE forest service qualified candidates can provide and update details from June 16 to 25, 2025, on the Commission's website, including payment of Rs 200 exam fee (except for female/ PwBD/ SC/ ST category candidates); scribe details, assistive devices, and large-font question paper requests; and gazette notification for name changes or discrepancies.
UPSC CSE prelims 2025 marks, cut-off marks and answer keys will be uploaded on the Commission’s website - upsc.gov.in only after the entire process of the Civil Services Examination, 2025 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2025 is over i.e. after the declaration of final result in 2026.
Now that results are out, all qualified candidates will be required to fill out the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the Mains stage. They must also begin focused preparation for the August 22 Mains exam, which includes essay writing and GS papers.

A year after shutting down its residential coaching facility for Muslim civil services aspirants, the Haj Committee of India (HCI) has announced the reopening of its Mumbai-based training centre. The revamped programme will now have 20 per cent seats reserved for candidates from other minority communities as well as Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs). A formal notification has been issued, inviting applications for the upcoming batch aimed at preparing aspirants for the 2026 Civil Services Examination.

Dr Ajay Kumar is appointed as the new UPSC chairperson. He succeeds Preeti Sudan, whose tenure ended on April 29, 2025. Before her, Manoj Soni briefly held the position but resigned in June 2024 due to personal reasons.
Dr Ajay Kumar, a 1985-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has served as India’s Defence Secretary from August 23, 2019, to October 31, 2022, before being appointed as the UPSC chairperson. According to reports, during his tenure, he played a key role in major defence reforms, including the Agniveer recruitment scheme, the creation of the Chief of Defence Staff, and the corporatisation of ordnance factories.
As per the UPSC calendar 2025-26, the Civil Services (Prelims) 2026 will be held on May 24, 2026, and the Main exam will begin from August 21, 2026. The NDA & NA (I) and CDS (I) exams are scheduled for April 12, 2026, while the NDA & NA (II) and CDS (II) will be conducted on September 13, 2026.
