Which AI skills will rule 2024 job market? Indeed report reveals

This report indicates that Indian employers have strong optimism towards AI, with over 85 per cent expecting AI to create new jobs in 1-5 years.

A recent report by Indeed, a hiring platform, has revealed that 42 per cent of generative AI jobs in India mention “Machine learning”.

As per projections made by Nasscom and BCG, India’s AI market is expected to witness an explosive growth and reach $17 billion by 2027, driven by a 25-35% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). With this expected growth, it gets important for Indian employers to identify the required AI skills and hire accordingly.

As per an Indeed report, 42 per cent of generative AI jobs in India mention “Machine learning”. Similarly, 40 per cent ask for “Python” skills, which is highly valued for its flexibility in AI and machine learning. AI core skills and communication skills are also sought after, appearing in 36 per cent and 23 per cent of job ads respectively. Other skills that are in demand are Natural language processing (20 per cent), TensorFlow (19 per cent), Data Science (17 per cent).

This report indicates that Indian employers have strong optimism towards AI, with over 85 per cent expecting AI to create new jobs in 1-5 years.

“India needs to focus on improving skills to be a leader in global discussions about AI. Companies should help their workers learn more to keep up with the needed skills,” said Sashi Kumar, head of sales, Indeed India.
