Actor Bijay J Anand, who featured in Prabhas starrer Adipurush, says the film at its core was an “innovative experiment” that dared to go beyond the conventional imagery of the gods, thanks to filmmaker Om Raut’s vision.
In an interview with Times of India, Bijay J Anand, who played Brahma in the film, said Adipurush was met with varied reactions, but it was still a “bold and innovative experiment”. The actor said the film didn’t choose to follow the conventional portrayal of the gods, especially Ram, as has been shaped by Ramanand Sagar.
Anand said Adipurush challenged that “established imagery” of Ram, Sita, and Lakshman. The actor added that Om Raut had also financially invested in the film and decided to take “creative liberties” to present a fresh perspective.
“I think it’s crucial to appreciate his boldness and courage in putting his money and reputation on the line to share a unique point of view.In an industry where many opt for safe projects aimed at financial success, Om Raut’s passion for showcasing a story in a different light is commendable,” he added.
The actor said he is still proud to have been featured in Adipurush and would love to work with Om Raut again. Adipurush starred Prabhas as Lord Ram, Saif Ali Khan as Ravana and Kriti Sanon as Sita.
Adipurush was yet another box office disappointment for Prabhas, who is yet to a see blockbuster post Baahubali series. The star would hope to turn the tables with his latest Salaar, set to release this Friday.
