Actor Mukesh Rishi, famous for playing the lead antagonist in several Bollywood films of the 90’s, recently opened up about his life and work as a Hindi film villain. While talking about his experience working in movies, Mukesh shared anecdotes from the time he worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Lal Baadshah and with Salman Khan in Judwa.
Talking about Big B, Mukesh shared that even as a senior actor on set, Amitabh gave him time and made him feel comfortable when he lost track of his lines while shooting a scene. He told Radio Nasha, “In Lal Baadshah, there was a father and son role with Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan). There is a scene where some people are chasing me and I am the police officer. I am running, and people are running behind me. Here, it was like I had arrested the Lal Baadshah and people were angry, so they were behind me and that’s when someone extends their hand and catches me. That is Amit ji, who played the Lal Baadshah’s father’s role. I saw that and I had to say a few lines which were initially not given to me. So I, very innocently told Big B, ‘Give me two minutes…’ and he said, ‘Aaraam se kijiye (take your time).’ So I took my time and read my lines, and it looks like it is a small thing, but because I was new, one could ignore it and ask me to be quick. But Amit ji, he is a senior, but he gave me time and this gesture shows his quality.”
Mukesh Rishi then shared his experience sharing the screen with Salman Khan in David Dhawan’s Judwa, describing his work experience with the superstar as “mazedaar” (fun). I have got to spend a lot of time with him as we used to exercise together. We would go for walks in the evening when we filmed together. He never kept sitting in his vanity van, he’d meet us at the bar… that is his nature. I really feel it was a mazedaar time because we did a lot of work as well as we also got to know each other. We respect each other immensely. I really enjoyed working on five films with him.”
