Actress Maadhavi, known for her powerful performances across Indian cinema, opened up in an old interview about her experiences working alongside actor Amitabh Bachchan. The two shared screen space in several memorable films including Andha Kanoon, Geraftaar, and Agneepath. Reflecting on her early days in the industry, Maadhavi recalled being taken aback when Bachchan agreed to star opposite her in Andha Kanoon. “I was very amused when he agreed to do Andha Kanoon with me, as I was just a newcomer and he was a superstar,” she said.
Describing Bachchan as a thorough professional, she praised his commitment to his craft: “Woh jo bhi karte hain, lagan se karte hain. Jo hamari normal mentality hoti hai, ki agar koi chhota sa scene hai ya light scene hai toh hum usmein zyada effort nahi karte. Lekin jab Amit ji kaam karte hain, unke liye chhota scene bhi utna hi important hota hai jitna ki dramatic scene. (Whatever he does, he does with full dedication. Our usual mindset is that if a scene is small or light, we don’t put in much effort. But for Amit ji, even a small scene is just as important as a dramatic one.)”

Maadhavi also revealed how Amitabh Bachchan introduced her to a completely new understanding of film dubbing. “Until I saw him dubbing, I was under the impression that dubbing was just an extension of your acting. But I never realised that you could improve your performance in the dubbing. When I went to dub for Andha Kanoon… Amit ji was already dubbing. And I was amazed to see the kind of modulation he was giving, the quality he had, the improvement he was making in front of the mic, it was incredible. If I’m able to speak properly today or know anything about modulation… it’s all thanks to him.”
Maadhavi described her time working with Amitabh as a deeply enriching experience. She said she quietly observed him on set, learning not only about acting but also humility. “Woh sabko hasate rehte hain… when he is on the set, the atmosphere is very lively. He never made me or anyone on the set realise he is a superstar. He was very modest and humble.”
