‘Amitabh Bachchan would sit on six chairs, keep the set vibrant,’ recalls Kunickaa: ‘You can’t compare Shah Rukh Khan to Big B’

Amitabh Bachchan has been a leading star in the movies since the early 1970s and someone of his stature is often aware of the aura he creates as he glides past a room. In a recent interview, actor Kunickaa Sadanand recalled her memories of working with Amitabh Bachchan in a 2001 film and shared that he would always be pulling Rakhee Gulzar’s leg on the set.

Kunickaa shared that on the set of Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love, Amitabh was a “delight” to work with. She shared, “He would keep the atmosphere on the set so vibrant. He would joke around with everyone. Rakhee ji ki boht taang kheenchte the. (He would pull Rakhee ji’s leg.)” She said that Amitabh would present himself like any other actor on the set, and not as a star. “I learnt from Amit ji that you have stay away from your stardom. He only works as an actor on the set. He is still there on KBC and people still watch him. He is the mahanayak. Either it was Dilip Kumar or it is Amitabh Bachcan. Shah Rukh is definitely there but you can’t compare him to Amitabh Bachchan. Perhaps he will gain that status by the time he is Amitabh Bachchan’s age,” he said and added, “He doesn’t think of himself as Amitabh Bachchan. He sees himself as any other actor on the set.”

Kunickaa said that Amitabh had just one thing when he was on set, he always wanted six chars for himself. “There was just one thing that he had. He needed 6 chairs on the set because he has long legs so he couldn’t sit on one chair so six chairs would be stacked on top of one another,” she shared.

In the same chat, Kunickaa also spoke about her fondness for Shah Rukh Khan and said that for her, Shah Rukh is the personification of romance. She said that she once joked with him that she would kidnap him and he was happy to indulge in banter. “For me, romance personifies Shah Rukh Khan or Shah Rukh Khan personifies romance. I love him and I once told him that I will kidnap you and he asked ‘when?'” she shared with a laugh.
