‘Ranveer Singh would work for 22 hours during Simmba because he was getting married, apologised to everyone when he was 2 minutes late,’ recalls co-actor

Ranveer Singh would work tirelessly just so he could finish his work commitments before getting married. The only break he took was when Deepika Padukone came to visit him in Hyderabad.

Ranveer Singh hasn’t appeared as a solo hero in any film since 2023’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani but his stardom hasn’t vanished in all these years. In a recent interview, one of his co-actors from Simmba shared that Ranveer is extremely hard-working on set and recalled the time when he would shoot for over 20 hours in a day just so he could finish the shoot of the film before his wedding with Deepika Padukone.

In a chat with Filmymantra Media, actor Vijay Patkar shared, “Ranveer really respects his seniors on set. He will just sit and quietly listen when a senior is talking to him. He doesn’t act like, ‘I’m a star’. He is very good listener. That’s why he does good work.” Vijay then recalled the shooting schedule of Simmba where Ranveer would survive on just two hours of sleep. “During Simmba, I saw it. I told Ranveer. ‘look at your eyes’, there were bags under his eyes. He said ‘Kya karu? Shaadi kar raha hu. Abhi karna padega. (What do I do? I am getting married. I will have to do this.)’ He was getting married so we had a fixed schedule and until then, we had to finish the shoot,” he said and recalled the scheduled.

“So from 9 am to 6 pm, he would shoot the fight scene in the police station, and it was fully physical. He would leave for the gym at 6 pm, come back on the set at 8:30 pm, and shoot for “Aankh Maare” from 9 pm until 6 am. This went on for seven days. He would sleep at 7 am for just 2-3 hours. He would say, ‘Kya karu? Shaadi hai. Meri hi shaadi hai. Mujhe hi karna padega (What do I do? It’s my wedding. I will have to do this)’. Simba’s release date was already announced by then,” he shared.

Vijay said that he had never seen an actor who respected other people’s time to this degree and recalled an incident when Ranveer was just two minutes, yet, he apologised to everyone. “I have never seen an actor run towards the set because he was two minutes late. The sun was scorching and he was running and he came and apologised to everyone that he was late,” he recalled. In the same chat, he shared that the only time Ranveer took off was on his birthday when Deepika Padukone came to Hyderabad to see him.

Ranveer’s next film is Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar.
