Salman Khan was the biggest Bollywood draw at the closing ceremony of MAMI held at the illuminated lawns of a suburban five star hotel on Thursday (November 5). The macho man drew loud applause befitting his superstardom as he walked in with Jackie Shroff.
His brief address to the audience was punctuated with his inimitable wisecracks that had the audience in splits. And the superstar was honest in saying that though he may never win an award at MAMI, he will lend the festival his complete physical and mental support.
“I know for a fact that even I may not get an award but every year we will be here in flesh and blood and heart and soul,” said Salman Khan.
Thanking his close friend Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao for inviting him, Salman regretted not being able to make it to the opening ceremony.

Praising Kiran and the other organisers for putting up a good show, Salman said, “I am so happy that Kiran reintroduced MAMI. I think it is the best thing that you could have ever done in your life after Aamir Khan. The best thing about MAMI is Kiran and Anupama heading it. The awards that you get here will be true and correct. It will be on merit. We want to see MAMI bigger and better and we will achieve that very soon and everything on merit.”
The opening ceremony of MAMI was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and was also attended by the likes of Kangana Ranaut, Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt to name a few.
