‘Sanjay Dutt will walk out, Shatrughan Sinha will get offended’: Rohit Shetty kept curbing Sanjay Mishra’s enthusiasm on set for fear of repercussions
Actor Sanjay Mishra also revealed how he once got drunk and imitated Shatrughan Sinha in front of him.

Sanjay Mishra’s acting funda is pretty simple, push through everything and pull some cheeks. The actor revealed how his impromptu idea for a scene in All the Best worried filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who feared that actor Sanjay Dutt, who was the receiving end of the addition, would get upset and walk out of the set.
The film also starred Ajay Devgn, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu and Johnny Lever. Sanjay Mishra realised on set that he was surrounded by big-shots and he would have to come up with out-of-the-box ideas to hold on his own. “So, I decided to say my dialogues in the style of Pran to add a comic layer to them,” he said in an interview with Digital Commentary. The actor, known for his comic timing, recalled that he decided to pull Sanjay Dutt’s cheeks in a scene, stumping Rohit Shetty.
“I asked Rohit if I could pull Sanjay Dutt’s cheeks in the scene. He was shocked, he told me, ‘Aey paagal! Woh bhaag jayega aur meri shooting ruk jayegi (Don’t be silly! He’ll walk off the set and shooting will stop). How can you do this, he’s Sanju baba.’ I realised there was an invisible boundary between us actors.
“So, I thought to directly ask Sanju. He said, ‘Kar na yaar, koi toh mere saath comedy karo!’ We didn’t tell Rohit that we were doing this, because he would stress out. When we did it, Rohit was laughing while saying ‘cut’. He couldn’t control his laughter,” he added.

While the actor mimicked Pran in All the Best, he did an impression of actor Jeevan in One Two Three. But he was held back from mimicking Shatrughan Sinha’s dialogue delivery for a scene in Golamaal Again. “I did a small bit of Shatrughan Sinha in Golmaal Again. Rohit was like, ‘Shatrughan Sinha sir is my neighbour! Roz ka kaand ho jayega (this will be a mess of everyday). But I told him I will do just one line, and I did it. I had met him once, long time ago, even Sonakshi was there. And after my second peg, I started imitating him! Asrani sir was gesturing me to stop, because he was sitting right in front of me,” he laughed.
Sanjay Mishra will be next seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which is gearing up for a Diwali clash with Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty and headlined by Ajay Devgn.
