‘Shah Rukh Khan went shopping and bought sweaters for me because it was cold’, recalls Adnan Sami as he was ‘touched’ by actor’s kind gesture

Adnan Sami recalled the time he was shooting with Shah Rukh Khan and the actor went out of his way to buy some sweaters for the singer.

Shah Rukh Khan is known for his generous attitude and his humble approach on set and while his colleagues from Jawan have been showering praise on him, another artiste who worked with him in the early 2000s had a similar experience with the star. Adnan Sami, who was releasing one hit song after another those days, did an ad shoot with SRK and Kareena Kapoor for Pepsi at that time.

In a recent interview, Adnan recalled Shah Rukh’s thoughtful gesture when the actor bought him a few sweaters because it was excessively cold. In a chat with Bollywood Bubble, Adnan recalled, “I was supposed to be wearing a signature Hawaiian kind of a shirt. Colourful, summery… that was my outfit. That’s the way the designers had made my clothes but it was freezing cold. He (Shah Rukh) knew that. On the day that I arrived, he went out shopping and suddenly I got a knock on the door and he said, ‘You know what, it’s very cold outside. I got you some sweaters.’ I was very touched by that.”

The singer said that the gesture was ‘wonderful’ and spoke about Shah Rukh’s nature. “He didn’t have to do that and that whole gesture… that speaks a lot about the person. So that was wonderful,” he said. Adnan added, “He is a very gracious person to work with. Full of love, empathy, very generous in his craft.”

In 2009, when Adnan Sami’s father was critical and admitted to the hospital, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan visited him in the hospital. Sami told Bollywood Hungama at the time, “I missed both Bachchan Saab and Shah Rukh by minutes. But at least my mother was there when Shah Rukh so graciously visited with his daughter. My father couldn’t recall the names of all the Bachchan and SRK films he had seen except Veer Zaara.” Adnan’s father passed away a few months after this.

Years later, Adnan Sami provided the vocals for Shah Rukh Khan’s film My Name is Khan where he sang “Noor-E-Khuda” with Shankar Mahadevan and Shreya Ghoshal. The film’s music was composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
