Tanishaa Mukerji gets emotional on Jhalak Dikkla Jaa 11, says she is not a star like Kajol and Ajay Devgn: ‘Main uss mukaam tak nahi pohochi’

Actor Tanishaa Mukerji started her Bollywood career with the 2003 film Sssshhh and later did movies like Neal ‘n’ Nikki and Tango Charlie. But unlike her sister Kajol or brother-in-law Ajay Devgn, she didn’t reach the heights of success. In an upcoming episode of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa 11, Tanishaa will discuss her journey and assert that she is not a star.

Sony TV on Monday released a promo of Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa 11. In the video, Tanishaa, who is a participant, is seen dancing to the track “Laila Main Laila” from the film Raees. The show’s judges Malaika Arora, Farah Khan and Arshad Warsi are impressed by her dancing prowess.

An impressed Farah told Tanishaa, “You are a star tonight.” Tanishaa Mukerji got emotional and said, “Meri family mein Ajay Devgn, Kajol sab stars hai. Main wo mukaam tak nahi pohochi (In my family, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, everyone is a star. I couldn’t reach that milestone). I am not a star.”

In an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama, Tanishaa Mukerji reflected on her journey and why she didn’t make it as big as her mother, Tanuja and sister Kajol. She said, “You have to have a strong sense of self. You have to have a strong sense of who you are, and that person will come out on screen. Those are the people who will actually make it, those who have a strong sense of self. Maybe I didn’t make it because I didn’t have that.”

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 will premiere on November 11 on Sony TV. Besides Tanishaa, Urvashi Dholakia, Shoaib Ibrahim, Anjali Anand, Shiv Thakare, Aamir Ali, Sangeeta Phogat, Rajiv Thakur, Adrija Sinha, Karuna Pandey and Sreerama Chandra will participate in the dance reality show.
