Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead role, was postponed several times before it was finally released in the theaters in 2017. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly, who was the assistant director of the film, recently revealed how the film’s song ‘Galti Se Mistake’ was shot over the course of six months. He also shared how after two years of being filmed, many people who were working on the film were apprehensive about whether it would be completed.
Ganguly remembered Basu made him hear the song ‘Galti Se Mistake’ and asked him to get 30 boys for the song the next day. However, after just shooting one scene of the song, the filmmaker felt the song is a misfit in Jagga Jasoos. Ganguly recalled, “Dada (Basu) said, ‘This feels out of place, so let’s leave it for now.’ We didn’t touch the song for four months. Then he edited the film and said, ‘The song is nice, we should figure things out.'”
They revisited the song four months later but once again left things incomplete for another couple of months. Ganguly added, “Four months later, we shot for the song just for another day and put it in the edit, and he said, ‘Yeah, this is feeling correct’. Again for two months, we didn’t do anything. Two months later, he said, ‘Now we will do this song properly’ and that’s how Galti Se Mistake happened. We shot for four days but over the course of six months.”
“Galti Se Mistake” was loved for its music and choreography but Jagga Jasoos failed to leave a mark on the audience and critics.
