When Rajesh Khanna called son-in-law Akshay Kumar ‘hera-pheri wala aadmi’, advised Twinkle Khanna to keep his leash tight: ‘Iski lagaam…’

In a throwback interview, Twinkle Khanna's father and actor Rajesh Khanna had warned her against son-in-law Akshay Kumar, saying he does a lot of 'hera pheri'.

Twinkle Khanna grew up in an unconventional environment, with her mother Dimple Kapadia and late father Rajesh Khanna separated, but not divorced. The former actor-author spent most of her time with Dimple, but was also close with her father. Recently, a throwback video of her dad and actor, Rajesh Khanna, started doing the rounds on social media, where he is talking about his son-in-law Akshay Kumar.

In the video, the legend revealed that Twinkle’s husband, actor Akshay Kumar, does ‘hera-pheri’ and sings a lot at this age. In the clip, he can be heard saying, “Iss umar me toh humara jo jamai raja hai vo boht gaata hai. Kabhi vo Bhool Bhulaiyaa karta hai kabhi Hera Pheri karta hai, Hera Pheri 2 karta jai. Bohot hera pheri karta hai. Hera pheri wala he aadmi hai vo (At this age, my son-in-law sings a lot. Sometime he does Bhool Bhulaiyaa, at others he does Hera Pheri. He is the kind to do hera pheri).”

Rajesh also mentioned that he told his daughter Twinkle to keep a check on Akshay, but not be too hard on him. He added, “Maine apni beti ko bhi bola hai. Maine kaha hai, ‘Dekho Tina baba…’, mai Tina bola hu kyuki Twinkle uska naam hai, ‘Tina baba zara iski lagaam kheech k rakhna lekin itni bhi nahi kheechna ki toot jaayein’.”

Earlier, in a conversation on Tweak India with Masaba Gupta, Twinkle revealed that her mother Dimple Kapadia, who was separated from husband Rajesh Khanna, wanted her to live with Akshay for two years before tying the knot. “When my husband said he wants to marry me, my mother said, ‘Nothing doing, you live together for two years. If you make it, then you get married. I have been married. I’ve seen what it’s like,'” she shared.

Meanwhile, Twinkle Khanna‘s last book was Welcome to Paradise, which is a collection of short stories published in November 2023. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar is basking in the success of his latest film Sky Force, also starring Veer Pahariya, which hit the theatres on January 24. The film also features Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur in vital roles.
