Cases against hate-websites targeting Chiranjeevi

Police has registered a case against owners of a few websites and blogs which allegedly defame actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi.

Cyber Crime Wing of city police has registered a case against the owners of a few websites and blogs which allegedly defame actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi and other film personalities,a senior official said.

Following a complaint a case has need registered against the owners of a website last night,the officer said.

“We have evidence against the persons who had hosted the websites with objectionable content about Chiranjeevi and another Telugu actor N Balakrishna,” he said.

Investigation revealed that some websites and blogs,hosted from a server in Sydney (Australia) via United States have been blocked since,the officer said.

“The culprit has got these websites hosted through an internet domain registrar which has been traced to Sydney. He would be identified soon and will be arrested,” the officer said.

The Chiranjeevi Blood Bank’s officials on Thursday filed a complaint with Central Crime Station (CCS) — a wing of the Hyderabad Police — saying that some persons were maligning actor’s image through a particular website,with abusive content,morphed photographs and offencive messages.

Before this,last month actor Balakrishna had filed a similar complaint of objectionable material being put by a website and a few other blogs. They targeted him,NTR Junior (another Tollywood actor)and some members of NTR family,he said.

The police have registered separate cases under relevant section of Information Technology Act.
