Govt warns star plus over reality show

“And also directs the channel that,while formatting a programme based on international format,it should keep in view Indian ethos and culture as well. Strict compliance to above action should be ensured by Star Plus channel. Any further violation may entail stringent action.”

The ministry had sent a show cause notice to the channel on July 22 this year,when it was airing the show,as it found its contents “vulgar,indecent and against good taste and decency”.

After Star Plus had replied to the notice on July 27,2009,a personal hearing was also granted to it on the issue on September 8,said official sources.

Ministry sources said the matter was also placed before the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) of the ministry and it also had found the contents of the show unsuitable for unrestricted public exhibition.
