Mel Gibson signs for ‘Hangover 2’

Gibson will play a Bangkok tattoist in the sequel to Hangover.

He has been in news for all the wrong reasons recently and Hollywood superstar Mel Gibson is making a last ditch attempt to save his movie career with a comedy role as a tattoo artist in ‘The Hangover 2′.

The troubled star, who was dropped by his agency in July after facing allegations that he assaulted and made threats against his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, has signed to play a Bangkok tattooist in the highly anticipated comedy, reported New York Post online.

“It’s a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October,” said a source.

The sequel to the wildly successful 2009 hit will follow the gang, played by Bradley Cooper,Ed Helms,Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha,as they take a boys’ trip to Thailand with a dangerous stop in Bangkok.

It is not known if Gibson’s ‘Hangover 2’ character will reference his current real-life problems. But the original movie did much to reinvent Mike Tyson’s image from a troubled drug user into a comedic actor.

The Los Angeles district attorney reportedly is still deciding whether to charge the 54-year-old actor, who allegedly attacked Grigorieva while she had their daughter in her arms, with domestic violence.
