Trying to emulate Akshay,Shreyas injured on ‘Joker’ sets

Choosing to a stunt without a harness proved to be a horrible mistake for the actor,who fell straight on his back.

In his early years,Akshay Kumar did quite a few dare devil stunts himself. There used to be no harness,other safety devises or CGI to aid in action but ‘khiladi’ kumar didn’t blink an eyelid ever. This is something that inspired his ‘Joker’ co-star Shreyas Talpade as well. However,results were disastrous as he only ended up meeting with an accident.

“This happened late last week when a stunt went terribly bad for Shreyas”,informs a senior unit member who saw the mishap unfolded in front of his eyes,”The stunt required Shreyas to be hung over 30 feet high in the air and then suspended further. The film’s action director as well as Shirish Kunder insisted that he wear a harness but it was near impossible for Shreyas to do that as he was wearing a sleeveless jacket. He was fearless though and smiled while stating that if Akshay could do such stunts himself,he too could do the same.”

Many around him warned though that such a stunt could be fatal but he was in good spirits that day.

“His confidence came from the fact that he has done far bigger stunts in ‘Golmaal 3’ and ‘Golmaal Returns’ “,says a close associate,”He felt that ‘Joker’ involved lesser risk elements and he would be able to pull it off without much ado. He ignored the fact though that safety and prevention was minimal here.”

However,the worst fear came true for Shirish and other unit members when the stunt went wrong and Shreyas landed straight on his back. He was in extreme pain and couldn’t move for a while. Shooting was immediately halted and First Aid was called for.

When contacted,Shirish was unwilling to share many details. He confirmed the incident and added that the accident wasn’t ‘as serious’ as it sounded. On being asked ‘how serious was it eventually’,he said,”The fact that he returned to shoot very next day should answer your question. Beyond that there is nothing for me to add.”
