Up and Close with Arjumman Mughal

'I used to participate in dramas and dance competitions which was appreciated and encouraged by everybody.'

Jammu girl Arjumman Mughal got her debut flick ‘Ya Rab’ directed by Hasnain Hydrabadwala. She has started her career as a model in 2005 after completing acting course from Anupam Kher’s acting academy. She has done more than 400 print and commercial ads for which she got International Woman achievement award also as most popular model.

Something about your life and family?

My dad was an Army officer. I was born and bought up in the Lambri (Jammu and Kashmir). After completing my tenth from an Urdu medium school our family shifted to Delhi.

During school days I used to participate in dramas and dance competitions which was appreciated and encouraged by everybody.

To relish on my dreams I shifted to Mumbai and started doing modeling and acting.

When did you start modeling acting who was your inspiration?

I started modeling way back in 2005 but soon realised acting is my passion.No one inspired me as such,what ever came on my way I accepted.

Your first shot??

It was amazing. (laughing) being first timer,I don’t know what to do I was in bridal get up waiting for the director’s call at 6am in the morning. At about 4pm I saw spot boys and light man laughing and looking at me and I started crying…I changed my costume and left the shoot the whole team consoled me and were sorry for whtever had happened. The other moment the shot was ready and I did that confidently.

I think the way you think life becomes that. Every one behave like you behave. I keep myself like what I want so it become necessary for other to give me back the same. The industry is for everyone. If you have confidence and right attitude with right education nothing will affect you. Life without problem is not worth calling life. Casting couch doesn’t exist at all!

About your debut movie ‘YA RAB’

YA RAB is my first hindi film which is directed by Hasnain hydrabadwala . Its amazing film based on the life of an orphan girl and a assistant to surgeon who is like her father.

Manzar sabai (Pakistani actor of bol fame) is playing a surgeon,other actors like Akhilender mishra,Raju kher,Vikram singh. We shot most of the film in lucknow.

When is movie going to release?

The editing is in editing stage and will be released in May this year (Insha Allah)

How was working with Hasnain Hydrabadwala?

He is intelligent director who knows his job very well.As a person he is very comfortable he listen every one carefully but does what he feels is right and needful. It was my gratitude to work with him he gave me so much respect. So working with hasnain was a great experience!

Your daily routine?

Normally,I do commercials and print ads which keeps me busy as such I don’t get much time! On off days,I wake up around 10am. I spend my time with my family,watch movies,meet friends etc. I love to spend time with ammi abba ji there happiness is everything for me!

Your first ad and movie?

My first ad was 21 century pan masala and my first film was paliniappa kalluri a tamil film based on college campus love story

Something about your likes and dislikes?

I like dancing,acting,all junk food which I don’t eat (Laughs),music,old movies I love watching golden era movies. I like spending time with my friends. I like humor. The only thing in this world I hate is ‘lie’

Something about your Personal favorite like your favorite food,actor,actress,Music,Costumes?

Food! All junk food which I have only once in a weak. Actors! I like Ranbir Kapoor,Govinda,Richard gere, Carry grant,Aamir khan,Charlie chaplin,Salman khan and the list goes on… among actresses I like kajol rani mukherjee marlyn monroe meg ryan kareena kapoor audrey tautou hema malini and nargis

Your future plans?

Whatever I plan had no future! Everything in my life came which I never planned so I don’t really plan anything whatever comes on my way I go with the wind!

Requirements to be your dream man?

Oh this question is being asked me very early…! hmmm ok… He should love me madly should be responsible independent very normal guy not much complications he should love my family!

How was the struggle?

It was amazing. Laughs! To be very frank as they say no pain no gain,and in actors life struggle never Ends! Anywhere you can fall and from anywhere you can get up again and say,yes I’m on! Struggle is like family member now it’s just when your known u have face value so things become little easy! But everyone has struggle on their own level!

Last but not least if you were not actor/model? We would have known Arjumman Mughal as?

As I said I never plan anything I’m a go getter,I never thought about my future I don’t even remember exactly how I thought of acting and modeling and how I entered into it!
