Trying to save money by downloading ‘Housefull’ from the Internet can land you in prison as the multi-starrer comedy is the first Indian film with an in-built anti-piracy software.

The comedy which stars a host of A-listers including Akshay Kumar,Deepika Padukone,Arjun Rampal,Riteish Deshmukh and Jiah Khan will use a software called Republique to track down offenders.

“There is a call centre in Mumbai with 35 people who are keeping a close watch on the Internet and we have already tried the software. So I am warning everybody if you try to download ‘Housefull’ you will be arrested,” said the film’s director Sajid Khan who was in the city to promote the film along with the star cast.

Online piracy is the bane of the industry and a recent report revealed that in 2008,piracy cost the Indian film industry USD 959 million and about 571,000 jobs.

The makers of ‘Housefull’ meanwhile are confident of a bumper hit with Khan saying that by yesterday the film had already broken records of advanced bookings in small screen theatres.

“‘Housefull’ got record collections when the advance bookings began in small screen theatres yesterday. It is an open challenge to all filmmakers to try and beat the record of my film which will be 2010’s highest grosser,” said Khan.

Apart from a scintillating star cast,the film also boasts of a climax set in the Buckingham Palace with the Queen and Prince Charles.

“In the climax Akshay Kumar’s character accidentally spills laughing gas in the entire Buckingham Palace and everyone from the Queen to the butler are laughing their heads off,” said the director.

The film produced by Sajid Nadiadwala releases on April 30.
