Rhys Meyers’ ‘Dracula’ salary held due to substance problem
Jonathan Rhys Meyers was paid in full only when he finished all the 10 episodes on the series.
When actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers signed on to play Dracula in NBC’s series, the makers reportedly decided to hold his salary keeping in mind his past substance abuse record.
The actor was paid in full only when he finished all the 10 episodes on the series, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The 36-year-old Irish actor, who has long struggled with substance abuse issues, was reportedly considered a possible
liability to the network, based on his history of alcohol-related incidents during the production of ‘The Tudors’.
According to sources,NBC withheld a “substantial” part of Meyers’ salary, which is estimated to be USD 100,000 per episode.
He received “per diem payments and other small dispensations, but the lump sum of his salary was contingent on him completing the season.”
