Ask director Neeraj Pandey the most challenging sequence he shot for Baby and he promptly recalls one that was shot in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was an outdoor action scene, on the streets of Thamel market on Mandala Street, a quaint lane which houses several shops. The sequence involved a man hunt which finally culminates in the market area, where the person is finally located. “It was all quiet and nice when we landed at seven in the morning to shoot. Fifteen minutes later at 7.15 am, Akshay Kumar lands on the sets and suddenly you have a crowd of 25,000 people from nowhere! The crowd kept increasing during the day and finally we shot some of the scene towards the evening. But we had to stop work as the crowd was getting out of hand. Eventually we packed up and returned to the location the next day,” said Pandey adding that the action was hand-to-hand combat, a form which has been used throughout the film. Baby, which also stars Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Rana Daggubati, Tapasee Pannu and Madhurima Tuli, releases on January 23, 2015.
