Lara Dutta to make a comeback onscreen with ‘Shamiyana’

Lara Dutta could make her comeback in another family drama titled, Shamiyana, (tentative title) to be co-produced by her husband Mahesh Bhupathi.

Screen was the first to report that Lara Dutta’s comeback film (Chalo China) after the birth of her baby was pushed from April 2014 to January 2015. But now it seems there may be some further change in the plan.

Lara Dutta could make her comeback in another family drama titled, Shamiyana, (tentative title) to be co-produced by her husband Mahesh Bhupathi. And Dutta’s co-star will Kay Kay Menon who is being lauded for his remarkable performance in Haider. Lara Dutta will play the owner of a cafe who falls in love with Menon, a hotelier.

“Kay Kay Menon is very keen to do the film and he is in talks, but he has yet to sign on the dotted line. In fact, the story is also not finalised and the creatives are being worked on and the film which will most likely be helmed by a new director. But there is a lot more to the romcom as it also dwells on relationships. ‘Shamiyana’ is likely to take off by the end of this year or early next, and will be shot in places like Rajasthan,” said a source close to the project.

When contacted, Raja Chaudhary, the co-producer of Chalo China said, “Actually there is no confirmation as to which film will take off first as the script of this new film is still being developed.”
