The making of the sequel of Rock On!! has been doing the rounds for a while now. The 2008-rock musical directed by Abhishek Kapoor marked the debut of Farhan Akhtar as an actor and was a big hit. Now it is heard that Rock On !! sequel is finally taking shape and Alia Bhatt has been finalised to play the leading lady. It is also heard that Kapoor, who made his directorial debut with Rock On!!, will not be directing the sequel. He is busy with Fitoor, the adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations and the Bhatt-starrer will be handed over to a new director.
Rock On!! was produced by Akhtar and Ritesh Sidwani’s Excel Entertainment and the cast included Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai, Luke Kennuy, Purab Kohli and Shahana Goswami.
When we contacted, Bhatt’s manager said she would get back but did not revert.
