Chitrangada Singh is learning a new craft these days. Singh, who is playing a cobbler in her next Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, has a real-life cobbler coming home every day for a few hours to train her to stitch shoes! The actress will be seen in very typical Bengali sarees which are locally woven and worn out. “Also, she’s cutting off her nails and not doing her eyebrows. Her hair will look unwashed. It’s going to be a very realistic look. In fact it’s the first time Chitrangada is going completely deglam and she’s very excited about it,” says Kiran Shroff who is co-producing the film with Ashmit Kunder. They have earlier produced 88 Antop Hill.
Shroff further reveals that Babumoshai Bandookbaaz is an action thriller which is co-written and directed by Kushan Nandy. “It is a very new and unique concept and Nawazuddin (Siddique) who plays the title role in the film will be seen in an entirely new role and something which he has never attempted before,” said Shroff.
The film, which takes off in October end, will be shot in places like Bolpur and Burdwan, small villages in the interiors of West Bengal. “Some of these places are famous for its red soil which will give the film a wild West feel. There’s another actor we are going to sign and he is going to be a pretty exciting one,” she said.
