Jacqueline Fernandez shot the peppy number, Chittiyaan kalayian on a set created to resemble a street in Penang, Malaysia

The team of Roy has just wrapped up Chittiyan kalayian, a peppy track picturised on leading actress Jacqueline Fernandez. Explaining the situation of the song, debutant director Vikramjit Singh explains, that there’s a street carnival in Malaysia with enthusiastic participants playing different songs. Within the carnival there is also an Indian troop which is playing Chittiyan kalayian, a spirited Punjabi track. And Jacqueline Fernandez’s character, Ayesha, who is watching the proceedings jumps into the procession and starts dancing to the beat in gay abandon.
“Picturising a track like this is something very new and we have tried to give the song an all new look. Although Ahmed Khan has choreographed the steps they don’t look structured. They are very impromptu and ones which any young, happy and carefree girl would break into,” said Singh.
Half of the song was shot on a street in Penang and the other half filmed in Mummbai’s Film City Studios where a similar street was recreated.
Roy which stars Arjun Rampal and Ranbir Kapoor as the male lead, is almost complete except for 10 days of shoot. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, the film releases on February 13, 2015.
