King of Hearts

When SRK was performing to Manwa laage, his statue cut out of metal pipes and wings were supposed to light up simultaneously. Although both lit up at the same time, the amount of fire they caught was not uniform which led to a few retakes.

King Khan is effortless when it comes to performing an act, onstage and predictably, his act went off smoothly. Shah Rukh Khan performed to three songs from his film Happy New Year and stole many hearts by first dancing on the tender Manwa laage after which he performed to a hip-hop version of Sharabi, which featured him wearing a costume illuminated with LEDs. He then performed to the evergreen India waale number. The superstar even descended from an LED pyramid atop the stage with metal wings all lit up! Khan rehearsed all the acts tirelessly till he was in sync with the crew within the first 10-15 minutes itself.

The chief choreographer Sanjay Shetty mentions, “I had a new concept for him and that’s what we showcased in the act. We let the props catch a soft fire in Manwa laage creating the feeling of burning love and briefed him to dance like Govinda, Jitendra and Amitabh in the verse from Sharabi which mentions them. His act even consisted of 150 dancers showcasing the local dance forms from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and South India when India waale played.”
