Pankaj Kapur to play Alia Bhatt’s dad in Shaandar

Shahid Kapoor will once again get to work with his father, veteran actor Pankaj Kapur. The film is Vikas Bahl’s Shaandar in which Kapoor is playing the lead but interestingly, his father will play leading lady Alia Bhatt’s dad. The news was confirmed by the film’s casting director Mukesh Chhabra. “Yes, Pankaj Kapur is playing Alia’s father in the film,” he said.
In fact, Kapur’s part was earlier offered to Govinda who opted out because of monetary issues with the makers.
Shaandar is all set to take off in UK where it is based, in a few day’s time.
Meanwhile, Shahid, who is an ardent fan of his father’s work, is ‘dying’ to watch the latter’s next release Finding Fanny because of the quirky role that the veteran is playing. “I was tickled to see him in an open shirt and shorts and checking out Dimple Kapadia. It’s the first time I have seen this side of my father,” he chuckled in an earlier interview.
The father-son had earlier worked together in Mausam, but that film had the veteran actor in the role of the director while Shahid played the lead.
