Creature 3D opened to a not-so-good response but picked up during the weekend. Are you happy with the way the film has performed at the box-office?

On Monday, following the release, Creature 3D collected Rs. 10.50 crore. That is fine for a film like this. In fact, I think it is an okay number though I wish the film could have done better.
If there are some drawbacks in a film, even the positives things do not work for it. I suppose that is what happened in this case.

What were the drawbacks, according to you?

I think, in a genre like this, people expect to see more of sex sequences. Also I feel the love story in the film did not work as much as it should have. We also did not have very good songs. I felt the music was mediocre. Having said that, I would like to add that, for a film with a budget of around Rs.18 crore, Creature has managed to recover its cost. So we have not really run into losses.

Creature 3D released in more theatre screens than Finding Fanny. But it was the Deepika Padukone-starrer that had the cash registers ringing.

Both are two different kind of films and of very different genres. And yes, while Creature 3D had more screens to showcase the film, one should also remember that Finding Fanny opened at high-end multiplexes where the ticket rates are Rs.450 while my film is being sold at Rs.50 per ticket at the single screens. So in comparison, nine people had to see my film to one person watching Finding Fanny.

Do you agree that people were not ready to accept a concept like Brahmarakshas that is introduced in the film?

In fact, Brahmarakshas has been accepted in a big way. Every one whom I know and who saw the film, has loved it. Many have enjoyed the special effects. The biggest danger a film like this faces is when the VFX is not up to the standard. But we passed that test. It was a huge experience for me also making this film.

Which territories did the film do well?

While Creature 3D has not performed too well in Mumbai and Delhi, it has left an imprint in mass pockets like Rajasthan,UP, Bihar, etc. Now that this film is there for everyone to see, I can concentrate on my next, Mr X.
