Following the interim relief from the Bombay High Court on July 30, after the review petitions of Mukta Arts and Whistling Woods International Film Training Institute were heard, it was a big relief for the institute, as they will now be able to retain their sprawling campus in Mumbai and continue its operations.
However, while the court granted conditional stay on its past order, the institution has been directed to pay `10.38 Crore to Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation (MFSCDC) as retrospective rent in six installments, for occupying the Film City land from the year 2000 till 2014, after which a yearly rent has to be paid.
According to the official spokesperson of WWI, the court has said that the education of the school students should move on unhindered.
