Delhi murders: Cops to check vehicles bearing ‘official’ emblem

“Many vehicles are seen plying in the capital with this emblem. The Commissioner has asked policemen to check these vehicles to ensure that no one is misusing it,” a senior police official said.

Dadwal’s directive comes in the backdrop of the four persons arrested in the murder cases of news producer Soumya Viswanathan and IT executive Jigisha Ghosh were using a car bearing the “police symbol”.

The four were trying to “mislead” public by giving an impression that the vehicle belongs to a policeman,the official said.

Police had seized a hologram of a judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court,two wireless sets,two blue plastic plates with three stars used by DG level officer and one star used by DIG level officer from their vehicle used to allegedly murder Ghosh.

Ghosh,a resident of Vasant Vihar,was kidnapped allegedly by the four men – Ravi Kapoor,the head of the gang,Baljeet Malik,Amit Kumar Shukla and Ajay Kumar – and smoothered to death. They also stole her credit and ATM cards.

Her body was discovered from Surajkund on March 18,two days after she went missing.

All of them were arrested while one person is still on the run.

Police have claimed they admitted to their role in the murder of the TV news producer. Viswanathan was found shot dead in her car in Vasant Kunj on September 30 when she was returning from work.
