Excise official held for graft remanded to judicial custody

A Central Excise official has been arrested on charges of graft and was remanded to judicial custody by a local court,police said on Monday.

Excise Superintendent Anil Singh was caught on Friday by CBI officials taking a sum of Rs 20,000 from a shop owner here following which he was remanded to judicial custody for 15 days by Thane Special Judge Gabne.

The court was told that the officer had made the demand from the complainant Mohamad Nayeem Khan,a zerox shop owner for regularising his service tax records.
