A police contingent keeping watch in Hathras. (file photo)The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the assault and alleged gangrape of the 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras has been given 10 more days to submit its findings.
Headed by Home Secretary Bhagwan Swaroop, and with UP Police DIG Chandraprakash and Agra PAC Commandant Poonam as members, the SIT was earlier given seven days’ time — till Wednesday — to submit the report.
A member of the SIT confirmed to The Indian Express that the government has given them 10 more days to submit the report.
The UP government had last week suspended three police officers, including Hathras Superintendent of Police Vikrant Vir, following an initial report by the SIT.
