Holi Bank Holiday 2025: Bank holidays in India differ based on regional festivals, and in addition to scheduled and non-scheduled holidays, banks are closed nationwide on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. One of the major public holidays in India, Holi, also known as the “festival of colours,” is approaching. This year, Holi will be celebrated on March 14, 2025, that is a Friday.

Consequently, both public and private sector banks in various Indian cities will be closed in observance of this festival. However, as indicated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) calendar for 2025, banks will be closed for three consecutive days.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decides bank holidays as part of the annual holiday calendar under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which governs the issuance of cheques and promissory notes.

Because of these holidays, transactions involving such instruments will be unavailable. Despite the closures, all banks will continue to provide online and mobile banking services during this period.
