JNU premier institute with powerful, alternative voice: Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad

AMID THE protests over the JNU row, the government said Wednesday that the university is a “premier institution” with a “constructive alternative voice” which the country is “equally eager to hear”.

“JNU is a very premier institution of India, widely respected also. It has produced outstanding civil servants, great academicians and

also well-known public figures. Its faculty and students also excel well. We all think that there is also a very eloquent, powerful and constructive alternative voice in JNU. The country is equally eager to hear that voice,” said Communications and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today.

He said the JNU issue was “not discussed” at the Cabinet meeting. “And let me tell you very clearly and categorically only two things — the entire matter is under investigation, the police commissioner came on television and explained everything about both the cases. What happened with the press people, I have condemned it. Both are under investigation and I need not comment on it,” he said.

Jaitley condemns attack on media I&B Minister Arun Jaitley Wednesday condemned the attack. “Media has an unhindered right to report. Attack on Media persons is highly improper and condemnable,” Jaitley tweeted.
