Fixing accountability for the Mufti Sayeed government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced a Rs 80,000 crore economic package, double than the one sought by previous Omar Abdullah government, for rebuilding all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Pai Pai Ka Hisaab Lenge”, (Will ensure accountability for each and every penny), he said, adding that coffers and heart of Delhi will be open for the State if it ensured accountability and transparency.
The package is for development and empowerment of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, he added after inaugurating the second stage of 450 megawatt Baglihar Hydel project here on Saturday.

“This package is for ensuring rehabilitation of 1947 refugees and displaced Kashmiri Pandits from Valley with honour and dignity,” Modi said. “This package includes them as well,” he added.
Pointing out that the problem faced by the state has not been witnessed by any other state in the country, he said that lakhs of refugees have come here since 1947. “It is the need of time to ensure that refugees of 1947 and Kashmiri Pandit refugees are rehabilitated with honour and dignity,” he added.
“This package is not the end, but the beginning depending on how efficiently and speedily, the State government utilize it and ensure public participation This is only a sample, but you will have to submit the accounts,” he added.
Apart from inaugurating second phase of Baglihar Hydel project, Modi also laid foundation stone of four laning of the national highway between Udhampur-Ramban-Banihal section.
Modi was accompanied by Union Minister for Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari, State Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed, Union Minister of State in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh among others.
