Around 59 per cent turn-out was recorded in the eighth phase of Bihar panchayat polls,with reports of sporadic violence and the arrest of 916 people.
Director General of Police Neelmani told PTI those arrested included four mukhiya and zila parishad candidates.
They were held to ensure free and peaceful poll.
Police had to open fire to quell crowds at Aurangabad and Nawada,he said adding none was injured.
Police seized 151 vehicles,besides Rs 20,200 cash and 16 mobile sets at different places.
Polling was held at 12090 stations,with 86899 candidates in the fray across 58 blocks of 34 districts.
Around 50 lakh voters exercised their franchise during the day,official sources said.
