Punjab government has put on track the system of e-summoning by designated nodal officers of various departments for receiving court notices as directed by Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Chandigarh: Punjab government has put on track the system of e-summoning by designated nodal officers of various departments for receiving court notices as directed by Punjab and Haryana High Court. An official spokesman on Friday said that Kuldeep Singh,Deputy Secretary,has been designated Nodal Officer for General Administration (General Coordination) Department for the purpose. He said e-mail addresses,mobile and landline phones of the concerned officers have been conveyed to judicial authourities.

Depts told to create e-mail account

According to a communique sent by general administration department,all departments have been asked to create their email IDs,besides mentioning it in all official correspondences. “This information is being provided to the Punjab and Haryana High Court,” according to a government spokesperson.

HC lifts stay on docs’ appointment

CHANDIGARH: A month after Punjab was restrained from appointing 345 medical officers,the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday lifted the stay granted for appointments. Taking up the matter,Justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa directed that the posts for the petitioners and those having equal merit be left,while making the appointments. The case will now come up on August 13.

Muslims protest over stopping namaaz

JALANDHAR: A day after Muslims were asked to stop performing namaaz (evening prayers) on a plot of land belonging to the Punjab Waqf Board in Gazi Gulla,the community held a protested outside the office of Jalandhar Police Commissioner Gaurav Yadav,on Friday. The Muslim community,after performing afternoon prayers,rallied at the commissioner’s office and announced that they would hand over the keys of around 20 mosques to the commissioner. The gathered crowd alleged that they were stopped from performing evening prayers by the police after being pressured by certain elements of the community.

3 kg of heroin seized from Pak train

AMRITSAR: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI),on Friday,seized three kilograms of heroin from a goods train that was bringing in a consignment of cement from Pakistan at Attari,sources said. The consignment was hidden in the cement bags. This is the third such instance where heroin has been seized from goods trains coming from Pakistan. No official of DRI could be contacted for comment.
