Nearly six people were missing and nearly a dozen roadside khokhas washed away in flash floods which had been triggered by a cloud burst at Baggar in hilly Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir tonight. While senior civil and police officers from Doda had rushed to the spot,sources said that the affected area fell between Karmail and Kannota near Ramgarh in Assar block. Though the exact detail of damage was being ascertained,Dodas Superindent of Police,Arif Rishu,who told The Indian Express from the spot that nearly a dozen khokhas on the sides of a nullah had washed away,while four dhabas were extensively damaged. A number of vehicles parked on the roadside had also got buried under landslides triggered by cloud burst,he said. However,exact details of the damage were being ascertained. Meanwhile,sources said that most of the people managed to reach safer places after the cloud burst,but nearly half a dozen people were still missing. The police parties were yet to reach all the affected places in view of darkness and blockades created by landslides in the area. There were already few people on the dhabas and the roadside khokhas in view of heavy rains in the area since evening. The cloud burst came around 8.30 eading to flash floods in the area.
